Experience

I attended Binghamton University for undergraduate studies majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. I decided to double major in Psychology after coming to the realization that I would likely struggle to support myself in life by writing poems and short stories. Luck had it that I found a true passion in helping others recognize their true potential even in the face of adversity. After graduating, I emigrated South and subsequently earned my Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in 2014. During my four years at FIT, I worked with a variety of individuals in a wide array of treatment settings. My experiences included working as a student therapist and outreach coordinator at FIT’s college counseling center, serving clients at a community mental health center, treating individuals struggling with severe mental illness and substance use disorders at an inpatient behavioral health care facility, and providing mental health treatment to underserved populations at a primary care clinic in Brevard County.

After four years of graduate studies, I completed a required one-year clinical internship at the Mountain Home Veterans Administration Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee. I then completed an additional one-year postdoctoral residency with a focus on substance use disorders at the Malcom Randall Veterans Administration Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. I held a full-time position at the Malcom Randall VAMC until the end of 2020, where I split my clinical time between inpatient and outpatient mental health, participated as an active member of a clinical training committee, and held a courtesy appointment at the University of Florida supervising Psychiatry Residents rotating at the VAMC. As a licensed Clinical Psychologist I have over 7,000 hours of individual and group psychotherapy experience as well as a strong background in psychological assessment.
